Transitioning back into this "reality", going from a retreat where everyone was hyped-up, all on fire for Christ and worshiping Him together, which is awesome and you're on this adrenaline-high for God but then you leave the retreat. You're on the car ride home, and the hype is already declining because you're no longer in this shielded, focused environment where pretty much everyone around you, at least for the retreat, is focused on God. Retreat is over. Maybe for a day, or even a week, you're still pretty hyped-up, but unless you're actually committing yourself to growing in your relationship with God, you can fall back into living your life as a lukewarm Christian. It's dangerous because people get really caught up in the moment and don't think it through. If you ask someone, still at a retreat, how they plan to continue to live a life serving God and pursuing a relationship with Him once they go back home, they might not have an answer to give you. They might not know because they might be focused on the current hype, which at home, the current hype isn't constantly going to be worship sessions and morning devotional time with friends every day. People depend on the schedule and set-up at a retreat so much that they don't make time on their own to worship God, read His Word, meditate on it, and even just being still, talking with God, and listening for His voice. Retreats automatically schedule time for everything, outside of retreat, not the case. It can be hard to set aside time for God between school, sports, work, and whatever else is on the agenda but God will see the effort you put into a relationship with Him and He will bless you in ways you can't even imagine. You don't know how it's going to play out, that's the beauty of it. God knows how it's all going to happen and we can trust Him, knowing that He is in control. Everything will work out according to God's plan because if something is part of God's plan, He will carry it out. Instead of getting caught up in the hype of retreat, you can take the lessons God taught you through the retreat and apply them to your life to continue to grow in your relationship with the Lord.
God bless,
Georgia.
